“His best companion, innocence and health and his best riches, ignorance and wealth. How happy is he who crowns in shades like these? A youth of labour with an age of ease.” This quote by Oliver Goldsmith vividly sums up what youth is all about.
Youth only comes once. What precedes it is childhood which is spent in play and frolic and what follows is old age. Youth is the prime of one's life.
During youth we are mentally and physically at the peak of our health. Our minds are fresh and we perceive new ideas and thoughts easily. The innocence and ignorance of a youngster is a blessing that frees them from prejudice or doubt. However, lack of experience and wisdom makes them vulnerable and hence, they could get misguided. A young person has a curious and creative mind with ideas waiting to bloom. Their approach to life is therefore, optimistic and positive. This makes them enthusiastic and daring, often attempting what elder people perceive to be impossible. In their youth, people look at the bigger picture and pave the way for a nation's success.
William Shakespeare said, “ All the world's a stage, and all men and women merely players. They have exits and entrances and one man in his time plays many parts.” It is unfortunate however, that in this play of life youth has no retake.
We must therefore live the part of youth with enthusiasm, without prejudice and change the world for the better!
