CARBON DIOXIDE REMOVAL

We're in a climate crisis right now. It depends on the actions taken by governments, businesses and communities today to keep it that way for decades or even indefinitely. It is clear that we have to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions as well as move towards new energy, food and waste management systems. However, this article is about something that plays a key role in our fight against climate change. Net zero. In the past few years, more than 70 countries have pledged to reach net zero emissions. That includes countries that have been most responsible for emissions so far. Humankind needs to become carbon neutral. In our quest to address climate change, the large-scale removal of carbon dioxide from the air presents significant challenges. These hurdles are not just technical; they also involve complex social considerations.

The challenge of removing CO2 from the atmosphere is a major issue as we seek to deal with climate change. They are not just a technical problem, but also involve complex social considerations.

Firstly, we are faced with a lack of knowledge on the technology and funding needed for critical infrastructure. The issue is also complicated by fears of unforeseen consequences, and concerns that wealth gaps will widen in different countries. Additionally, indecision hampers progress as we search for the perfect solution.

It isn't only about choosing the best technologies, it's also about making thoughtful decisions when developing carbon capture and reduction capacity. A key piece in the puzzle for addressing climate change is CDR, but it can't operate on its own. Community driven actions, collaboration efforts are the real solutions.

Niti Aayog, the Indian government’s think tank has already launched a carbon policy utilization and storage policy framework. However, if CDR does not work out as a plan then net zero will have been just another way of trying to take the ‘Solve Climate Change’ project forward.
