Constant Vigilance

With the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic going on and a third wave about to hit India, it is very crucial that we follow social distancing norms at all times. They are very simple rules and do not cause much discomfort to us. First and foremost is wearing a mask that covers your nose and mouth. I have seen many people who wear masks in such a manner that covers every part of the face except the nose and mouth. Frankly, it’s a risky thing to do, because you not only put yourself but your family at risk too. The main purpose of wearing a mask is to protect yourself from the virus. If you don’t wear a mask properly, you are left very vulnerable to the virus.

The second most important thing is to maintain social distancing. Sometimes it's not feasible to maintain 6 feet of distance between people. You just have to make sure that you are not unnecessarily in contact with other people. Also, minimize going outside for any reason. Almost everything is now online, from paying bills to shopping. Not to mention, online payment only eases the process. But when you do need to go out - try to keep it down to emergencies only - make sure you wear a mask properly and maintain social distancing. Washing your hands and using sanitisers is another key point to follow. Cleaning your hands helps in removing any and all germs and decreases the chances of infection. Always wash your hands after going outside. Even if the people you come in contact with are not infected, they may be a carrier of the virus.

Another important thing to do is to always cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze. Not doing so can lead to spreading the virus faster. This is not a time for us to let our guard down. As of now, there are over 2.5 crores confirmed cases in India. We must remain vigilant and try our best to flatten the curve.
