Food is a word with so many definitions. It differs from person to person. Some think that it should give a person pleasure, while others think of it as a source of energy.
Food does give energy, but only when you eat right. Eating fast foods does not benefit anyone's body. It only adds calories and makes the body unhealthy. It results in harmful diseases like obesity and can impact your mental health. It can cause depression and problems in comprehending information. It also reduces physical and mental development of the body.
Instead of eating junk that can not benefit us, we should eat healthy food. A healthy diet is essential for good health and nutrition. It helps in the all-round development of a person. It protects a person from diseases like cancer, diabetes and heart problems. Healthy eating does not involve eating only boiled meals, eating less or not eating fats. It refers to the intake of all nutrients in the quantities in a way in which they are required in the body.
A healthy diet is one which includes many different food items in small proportions. By this method we can get enough nutrition.
There are several reasons for why healthy food in important:
The right amount of essential nutrients provides us with the right amount of energy needed by our body.
It stimulates our growth hormones and helps us grow in the right manner.
It helps us focus on daily tasks and perform them better.
It builds the immune system and prevents illnesses.
It keeps the body and all its systems functioning properly.
It also keeps away diseases.
A healthy diet comprises all nutrients in their right quantities. It must include some carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins and minerals, fats and dietary fibers.
Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables.
Limit sugar intake.
Reduce fat consumption.
Reduce salt intake.
The above are just the basic diets. There are many different diets to be provided to people suffering from different diseases. For instance, a person who has anemia must be given more iron or a person suffering from a fever should be given soft foods and liquids.
The time at which the food is consumed also plays a vital role in a person's health. Food should always be consumed at least an hour before sleeping. Some people eat their lunch around 3PM or their dinner at around 10PM. This can greatly affect our health.
Thus, healthy food habits should always be followed. If you have yet not started, it is never too late. Take small steps towards your goal and one day you will be there.
