As of the year 2023, more than 2 billion people know about esports as opposed to the 800 million that knew about it in the year 2015. That is evidence of the rapid growth of esports.
It can definitely be an option as a career in the future considering that everyone has smartphones nowadays and everybody loves playing video games. If you ask me, my favorite thing to destress myself is to play video games. It is an extremely fun activity which is part of why it is becoming more and more popular.
Esports has its own pros and cons. It helps to foster collaboration and teamwork among young students aspiring to participate competitively in esports. They explore various fields such as STEAM skills, editing, graphic design, and more. It helps develop amazing hand and eye coordination along with good reflexes which are undoubtedly helpful in day-to-day life.
The cons are staring at the screen for long periods can be harmful to the eyes and lead to issues such as headaches. It strains the eyes over long periods of time. Additionally, it leads to several mental health issues such as anxiety and depression. These develop due to in-game pressure. There is also a lack of balance with other activities such as schoolwork and socializing, the life outside the screen.
In conclusion, esports is a booming career option, especially in today’s day and age. It is a fun future with lots of amazing moments. Even so, it does have its pros and cons. It is helpful for fostering teamwork and communication but can also be harmful to our health. So, if you are considering esports as an option for your career, don’t be afraid, go for it but make sure to consider the positives as well as the negatives before making your choice.
