AI is one of the most discussed topics in the world today. AI has the unique ability to learn from its experiences and to perform human-like tasks. However, there are mixed opinions on this topic. Many people believe that AI will steal jobs in the future and that the process has already begun.
This article is aimed at clearing out the myths and getting the facts straight about whether AI is stealing jobs or creating them.
The answer to the question ‘Is AI stealing jobs’ is not a simple one. In fact, there are two sides to it. AI is stealing jobs as well as creating them. The intriguing question is, how?
Well, AI is taking away the jobs of people like writers and researchers because Artificial Intelligence can do both of these tasks in less time and be more efficient.
An example of this is Chat GPT. It can write an essay on any topic in seconds with minimal or no grammatical errors specific to the word count. However, this is only one side of the coin.
AI is said to also create jobs in the future. Artificial intelligence is making things which were unimaginable a few years ago, come to reality in the present. Take the example of self-driving cars, it is simply spectacular.
If you asked someone in 2010 about self driving cars, they would think you are out of your mind. It is in this manner that AI is creating new jobs for the future.
To end my article I would like to give a unique statistic. According to the World Economic Forum, AI is expected to steal 85 million jobs by 2025 but it will also create 97 million jobs in the same time frame. That is a total surplus of 12 million jobs.
So, to conclude, my answer is that AI is stealing jobs but is creating not only equal amounts of jobs but more, to compensate for this.
