Fasten your seatbelts because we are about to start our flashback journey on the thoroughfare of tunes. It wasn't until the lockdown started, that I knew about a skill of mine, playing the keyboard.
I still remember that infuriating moment on the 27th of March, 2021, when I came to know of the lockdown. My vacations were all in vain. I was so annoyed with the idea of the same routine repeating, again and again, it all seemed like a time warp. It was that very day when I opened my cupboard to find my old keyboard kept there, with dust all over its cover, forgotten for three long years.
The sight tingled my senses and it was almost as though the keyboard was urging me to use it to its full flair again. I removed it from the cupboard, cleaned the cover, and finally took the piano out of its cover. It was shining as if it was brand new.
I connected the adapter to the board and I flicked up the switch. The first note I played wasn't right because I was completely out of practice. I looked for my book which contained all the songs that I had previously learned to play, and when I tried to play them, they came out so lousy that I realized that I would have to start from scratch.
For five consecutive days, I practiced the same song twice a day, and finally, when I played that song on the sixth day, I got the feeling that I was performing on the stage as a three years younger version of myself. The sensation filled me with so much pride and such a pleasurable sense of achievement that I decided to explore everything that I had had on my list of things to do but hadn't been able to because of all the other activities and studies I had been doing.
From that day onwards, I started looking for different songs that could be played on the keyboard, and only in a couple of weeks, I had mastered playing at least 12 songs. Every day in the afternoon, I would sit with my parents and play the songs I had learned recently.
Now I understand that if I want to do anything, practice is all I need. If someone is out of practice, they would not be able to do anything. We must understand that everyone has to push themselves to achieve something and continue that hard work to keep themselves the closest they can be to perfection.
Thus, it is well said that: "Practice Makes a Man Perfect"
Good Luck and Keep Practicing!
