My Experience With COVID-19

COVID-19 has affected the lives of millions of people worldwide, and with the rapid rise in cases due to the second wave, my family and I had decided to take extra precautionary measures but even so, we recently caught this deadly virus. A few months ago, my father had developed a sudden fever which refused to come down. This was very concerning and thus, we all decided to take the RT-PCR test, and it was revealed that he, my mother and I were positive for COVID-19. We immediately isolated ourselves for the next 14 days, but now the main question revolving in our heads was, how we got infected in the first place. Although this remained a mystery, we had to now concentrate on recovering from it. We frequently took steam, tablets and a lot of rest. We were also constantly in touch with doctors, who were really helpful throughout this period and fortunately, my family has now fully recovered from COVID-19. One of the most important things that helped us recover from the coronavirus faster, was mental strength and positivity. Positivity not only helps us reduce stress, but also improves our health, which is extremely important during this time. This tough period helped me realize that although many people take the lockdown negatively, it is not necessarily so, and is, in fact, an opportunity to grow as an individual. The lockdown gave me an opportunity to spend quality time with my family and engage in new activities like art, coding and writing. Furthermore, I have started reading plenty of books, which have helped improve my vocabulary. It has also taught me that we should start caring more about our environment since it is degrading at a rapid pace and it is our actions that have caused this pandemic in the first place. Another valuable lesson I learnt was to appreciate the little things in life because this helps us discover more about the world and about ourselves.

Therefore, rather than looking at COVID-19 like a dark cloud, I feel we should look at it as the sunshine of opportunity, and try using this time as fruitfully as possible. Also, by taking all the necessary precautions, staying mentally strong, keeping calm as well as positive, we should support our government as much as possible to win the war against coronavirus.
