Steve Jobs - an icon of imagination and innovation

Steve Jobs is the founder of the most valuable company on Earth, Apple. He founded Apple from his garage along with his comrade Steve Wozniak. A college dropout, Jobs had no background in making computers but Wozniak was the real mastermind. Steve Jobs did not quite revolutionize but he rather reimagined what a product could be. For me, Jobs is not a model person but stands as the ultimate icon of imagination and sustained innovation.

In 1984, Steve Jobs poured a lot of capital into the Macintosh computer and had all the latest and greatest technology in it. Steve believed the price should be affordable but the CEO John Sculley (former Pepsico CEO) disagreed as their profit margins would take a hit. After a failed boardroom coup, Jobs was fired from Apple.

After being fired, Jobs started NeXT and started making computers. The Company had revolutionary software. He bought Pixar from Lucasfilm ( the company that created Star Wars), the first animation company. Under him, Pixar made several animated hits such as Toy Story which is one of my favorite animated movies. Jobs made Pixar successful and sold it to Disney.

Apple then bought NeXT. Apple was in dire need of proper leadership. Steve was offered the reins to reinstate Apple to its former glory. Jobs became Apple’s CEO again in 1997. There he met a young Jony Ive ( The Chief of Apple design). He also hired Tim Cook (Current CEO of Apple). Under Jobs, The iPhone, iPad, iPod, iMac, and MacBook were designed. I think everyone once in their life has experienced Jobs’ marvelous products. Jobs passed away in 2011 due to cancer. His last project was the current Apple Headquarters which is a naturally friendly , modern, and hundred percent renewable building. He was succeeded by Tim Cook who keeps Steve’s DNA in the modern world. Jobs has always mesmerized me with his work ethic and his determination to provide an intuitive experience to the user.

“ Sometimes life is going to hit you in the head with a brick so don’t lose faith”- Steve Jobs
