A teardrop rolled down her cheek "M-Mom? Lexi sobbed. She sat on a chair next to her mother's hospital bed. There was no answer. There would never be an answer. Lexi's mom didn't say anything. It was now extremely quiet with only the sound of the monotone beep of the heart monitor. Her mom was gone.
Two hours ago, Lexi had left her house with her mom for a late night drive. She loved driving with her mother because her mum was an excellent driver. On a nice night like that one, her mom could go really fast and make Lexi’s heart beat faster. She loved clear nights like those with her mom, her best friend. She would have the time of her life with her mom.
While in the car, she pressed on the button to open the sunroof and stuck her head out of the sunroof. The wind kissed the freckles on her face as her red hair flew like a flag behind her. Her mom increased the volume of the radio and Lexi laughed. She threw her hands up into the air and threw her head back. At that moment she was the main character. Soon enough, she felt the air get colder and so sat back down in her seat and closed the sunroof. However, Hardly had she pulled on her seatbelt, when she was blinded by the brightest light. And then consumed by the darkest shadow.
The car in front of her was driven by a drunk teenager. She looked to get left. Her mother was not wearing a seatbelt. Lexi screamed as the two cars collided. Her scream echoed into the silence of the night.
Two hours later, she was sitting in a hospital room, with no mother.
She would never be in a car with her mom again. She would never see her mom's smile again. She would never hear her laugh. Her mother was gone.
