We all love a story which involves brave steps and terrifying risks. The Hunger Games enables us to indulge in the Capitol (Capital) and its thirteen districts. It displays what will happen to our future if we continue to take revenge just for our satisfaction . A series of the dystopian genre written by the talented Suzanne Collins, it proves that anything is possible with the help of great friends, wise mentors and powerful allies.
The plot takes place in Panem, a place where the rich live and take pleasure in watching the youth fighting for their lives. They have a perfect view of whatever is happening in the arena (the place where the games take place). All they have to do is click a button and witness the injustice taking place through their flat screen televisions. The main character is Katniss Everdeen, a girl of only 16, from District-12, who volunteers to enter the deadly hunger games instead of her little sister. The story proceeds as another boy Peeta Mellark (from District-12) is chosen for the Hunger Games too. Among 26 people, only one person can survive, as there can be only one victor. But for the first time in history this particular Game ended with not one but two victors. Both of them manage to make it out of the games, alive but scarred for life.
The President dislikes the fact that someone was able to outwit him and his Games to make the thirteen districts suffer. He calls every alive contestant from all the Games that have ever been played before, and makes them enter the arena for yet another fight for their lives. But once again Katniss manages to escape with the help of her brave friends and her resourceful and sharp mentor.
The story shows us the struggles of poverty and it perfectly portrays the feeling of losing a friend or a family member. Representing the side of both the right and wrong, we understand that without looking at the perspective of the opposite person, the argument is irrational and unessential. It is a tale in which happiness and frustration is balanced. The author was able to give us a message that both the young and old can make impulsive decisions.
