The Secret for Success- Perseverance

In today’s competitive, developing and demanding world, every day is a challenge that starts from the very moment you open your eyes in the morning, concluding only at night when you sleep, after finishing all the work for the day. In this duration, it is up to you to make the most out of it and put in your hard work and dedication into everything you do.

Perseverance is something that needs to be there in order to achieve your ultimate long term goal. No one can just become a champion overnight. It requires you to push yourself to your limits, and outwork yourself every day. It is basically persistence in achieving your dreams, despite the difficulty and time taken to acquire success. Everyone can work hard, but who is willing to wait for so long? Everyone believes that even trying is a waste of time. You either have results or you have excuses, it is up to you to choose what is better for you. Once a man was speaking to a group of children when he told them that they would get Rs 86,400 every day and they could do anything they wanted with it, but at the end of the day it must get over and the next day they would get another Rs. 86,400 to spend. He assumed that all the children would do everything possible to spend that money and waste it. He then told them, “Now, if you think about it, you get 86,400 seconds every day, spend it wisely” and the children never forgot it.

The sports sensation of India, Mr Abhinav Bindra who won India's first individual gold medal at the Beijing Olympics in 2008 said that “It is not every four years, it is every day.” These few words just reflect how much patience, time and practice it took for him to achieve his medal. It wasn’t a short journey and not an easy one at all. Today almost every second person knows who Abhinav Bindra is, and his example shows us how perseverance can go a long way.

It might take months, years or even decades to accomplish the dream that didn’t let you sleep at night, but just dreaming isn’t enough. It comes down to how much you are willing to do for it.
