Magic is a universal language. Every person, race, life form and entity tries to understand it, translate it. There is magic behind everything that we see and what happens around us. Someone needs to tell those tales. When the battles are fought and won and lost, when the pirates find their treasures and the dragons eat their foes for breakfast with a nice cup of Lapsang souchong, someone needs to tell their bits of overlapping narrative. There's magic in that. It's in the listener, and for every ear, it will be different, and it will affect them in ways they can never predict. You may tell a tale that takes up residence in someone's soul . It becomes their blood and self and purpose. That tale will move them and who knows what they might do because of it, because of YOUR words. After all, magic can be found in stolen moments.
I saw her in the darkness of an empty space, miles aways from the existence of the human race. In a life where everyone looks for bright colours, there she was looking magnificent in black.
Her eyes were enchanting. There was an instant connection.
Magic exists. Who can doubt it? Before Mili was adopted by us, she was a stray dog, abandoned by her previous owners and ignored by all passersby. Then, one morning, I decided to take a walk and came across her. At first when you see her all you can see are scars and a normal stray dog. However, when you take a moment and actually SEE her, you see the stories behind her scars and her bravery. Of course all of this can be termed as a mere coincidence but if I didn’t take that walk on that particular day and choose that particular path I would have never found her. She was and to this day is the brightest part of my day even though she is black in colour. She is a little bundle of joy and spreads magic everywhere she goes.
I do believe in an everyday sort of magic -- the obscure connectedness we sometimes experience with places, people, works of art and like; the eerie appropriateness of moments of synchronicity; the whispered voice, the hidden presence when we think we're alone; it's all magic.
