The Importance of Music

Music is the art of arranging sounds in time through the elements of melody, pitch, harmony and rhythm. It is one of the common universal cultural aspects of all human societies.

Creativity in the pure and undiluted form, is the true definition of music. It is an important part of our life as it allows us to express our feelings and emotions, some people even consider it as a way to escape reality. Music reduces stress levels and gives you a sense of relief, it is scientifically proven that music enhances brain functioning. Listening to music in an environment with other people also makes sure that you don't get distracted by the external noises.

Music fosters social solidarity, it speaks to all when words fail, and it is understood everywhere in the globe. It is like a universal language! Music is a gift and its power to connect people is without question. It is an art form with human interaction at its centre.

During the lockdown, a lot of people went through a phase of depression or constant sadness. It must have been really difficult for them to undergo the immense stress, however, I am sure that listening to music in the various genres of pop, metal, rock, classical lifted their spirits.

Music can change our mood! Happy, upbeat music causes our brains to produce chemicals like dopamine and serotonin, which evokes feelings of joy, while calming music relaxes the mind and the body.

Music Theory, like language, allows us to comprehend the structure and meaning of a musical work. It allows us to interact with other musicians in a common language and it serves as a shorthand for referring to important points in the music. Knowing music theory speeds up the learning process. A clear grasp of how the piece is formed allows us to learn more quickly, similar to how knowing a street map allows us to drive more effectively.

Music helps one drift away from their problems, it takes one on a wonderful journey around the world!
